[Review] Belik Portable Wireless Eye Massager

Our eyes are constantly strained with the daily, prolonged exposure to laptop and tablets' glare and radiation emitted from our mobile phones. No doubts, my eyes are dead tired by the end of the day but I do fight sleep for I am most unwilling to go to bed early with that never ending 101 to-do list on hand.

I felt the need to have some quiet time to surf the net, read some articles and allow my thumb to do some endless scrolling just to catch up on the social media pages to catch up with updates by friends. For me, that is partly how I keep myself updated and connected to friends whom I hardly meet up with.

Thus, my strained and panda-fied eyes were caused by the late nights plus daily exposure to the mobile phone (Rank #1) and laptop. I will usually surf in the dark while waiting for Vera to fall asleep or sometimes, I will surf until I fall asleep. I know it is a bad habit even though I have dim the screen backlight to the minimal. I am guilty of this bad habit and yes, I am trying to rid this habit and start using Belik Portable Wireless Eye Massager, to relieve the strained eyes and try restoring brighter, less tired-looking eyes through massaging which promotes better blood circulation.

Belik Portable Wireless Eye Massager operates in 5 different modes, mainly Automatic mode, Clear mode, Dynamic Mode, Sleep mode and Beauty Mode. Each mode has a different air pressure.

This is my first time using an eye massager, what wowed me was the intelligent wireless technology is operated via touch keys (which can be pretty sensitive at times) However, Belik has yet to come up with a set that plays the international language, English, for the voice warning tone. Still, I am won over by the following:

#1 Design of the eye massager - the massager could be folded into "half" and a travel drawstring bag comes along with it, made it easy for the massager to be brought around. The foldable design makes it less bulky to bring out.

#2 Integrated music player - with this,  I do not need another gadget to play music. I simply just need to convert my favourite songs into mp3 and save them into the microchip via the usb port. Play and enjoy the songs while I pamper my eyes with the gentle massage. It is soft enough not to disturb the one next to you but loud enough for you to hear. I have just uploaded a clip on my instagram on Xavvylicious.

#3 Safety cut off - Once the usb cable is plugged in to charge the massager or to transfer the mp3 into the microchip , it will immediately stop working as the charging takes place.

#4 Air Pressure - I love the different air pressure, especially the part where it squeezes on the temples, it is definately handy to deal with headaches. Better than using my own thumd to massage.

#5 Heating function - Eye tune adopts leading-edge high-technology infrared heat producer which helps to activate the cells around our eyes and stimulates cell molecules through vibration. The warm sensation was really comfy and soothing over the eyes while the the air pressure works on my temples.

For the drama chaser

For the one who refused to sleep early.
For the bookworm
Overall, the vibrations may be a little loud but it is still nice to own one. I would just have to say you have to experience it for yourself and this is a pretty good gift to get if you are running out of ideas what to gift to your loved ones and friends. Each unit is retailing at S$150, for more information, you can visit:

My "Extraordinary" Story [我的警察故事]

16 years ago, he was my In-charge when I had my first posting to Orchard Neighbourhood Police Centre, after passing out from Police Academy. He was well known for tearing up logsheets and I even knew that he had ever failed an officer's probation. I wished myself all the best and hope I could survive through my probation period and yes I did.

And if you are wondering if my logsheets had the same fate of going into the shredder, they did not.
Back then, being a rookie, it was really tough for me to stay up the whole night and to write a mistake-free logsheet but there was once, I had a really bad time writing it after a deadly 12 hours night shift, without sleep. The expectation of my logsheet was expected to be mistakes free, all facts of the cases for the tour to be detailed (this is definately very important), the road and street names we patrolled to be written down in the correct sequence and there should not be any cancellation nor correction tape to be used.

Each time, I made a cancellation right at the second page, nearing the end. Imagine, I was cursing at myself silently. Though I was busy rewriting, my in-charge did not go home, he was there with me till 12 pm until I managed to submit my final, mistake-free logsheets. The three months of probation was tough, nevertheless, I bit on and passed my probation at the end of it.

16 years later, this came as a surprise. My in-charge suddenly sent me a cny greeting and we got connected back. In the midst of our chat, he asked if I had hated him and followed by an apology next, for the harsh manner he treated me when I was his probate and my question to him was, if I had ever done him proud being his probate? It seemed like we both had this burning question in our heart which were not brought up until 16 years later.

Infact, based on my built, friends were surprised when they got to know I once wore the blue uniform. I proudly say, I did not regret my choice when I embarked on this extraordinary career and I love the fact that it was not totally desk bound. It allowed me to gain experiences which I would probably not able to encounter if I did not join the force. The only factor which ultimately made me decided to give up was, coroner cases. I felt afraid to handle the bodies, my imgaination ran wild and beyond but I could not say no as it was part of my job, it was my responsibility. I had to bite the bullet for I was wearing the blue uniform.

My mind was not strong enough, flashbacks of the deceased kept coming to my mind, I felt upset and eventually afraid of dark places. Till date, I can still remember the coronrer cases I attended but it took me a decade for all the faces to fade off from my memory. To be honest, it can be really mentally draining. This was the one and only factor which I really find myself useless for not being able to overcome the fear, my fear of handling dead bodies, which is not a secret to the officers in both my station and the Ops Room.

To my in-charge, the four years in my extraordinary career, I have never hated you. I am thankful instead that at the end of the three months, you trained me to be independant, confident, knowing the rights and wrongs and how to protect myself and my partner while on duty.

And I have no regrets and was so, so glad to know, after hearing from you that I did you proud even after you left Orchard. In your eyes, I that gungho lass you have trained, minus that overly straightforward attitude. I am elated that you connected back with me. I wish you all the best for your remaining service before you retire. =)

Thank you for your acknowledgement after 16 years.

KnowMe 2018 [ iROO x RDSS]

28 February 2018, iROO International Pte Ltd (iROO) announced its 5 years corperate social responsibility campaign supporting Rare Disorders Society Singapore (RDSS) at Crooked Cooks.

With the intent of raising public awareness on rare disorders and educating the public to be emphathetic towards such patients and their families. I felt this is indeed a great initiative as there is a need to increase public awareness on it, as well as funding to fund RDSS is rare. Hence, it is very much needed. Especially for the middle and low income families, the high cost for treatments, equipments and medication can be very straining on the pocket on a long term basis.

Host for the day: Cassandra Rudge

I can totally relate to this as I knew how much funds were needed back for my younger brother's treatments. Something which you may not know about me as I have never mentioned about it on my blog. I have a dearest, younger brother who was a down syndrome child since birth. During the first 7 years of his life, hospital was like his second home. He was always hit with high fever which inturn led to fits and was on high dosage of medication daily.

He was immobile throughout his growing up years, could not crawl like any other babies, could not sit up, self-feed himself nor walk even when he was at the age of 7. I remembered my parents ferrying him to Rainbow Special School back then for him to attend therapies to strengthen his muscles, hoping to see some improvements. Our family loved him dearly despite the condition he was having, giving all our love and support to him.  Unfortunately, he departed and left us at the young age of 7.

As I watched the video clip and the interviews, my heart went out to the families, I was trying to hold back my tears. The parents shared the kind of verbal insults and criticisms hurled at them, ignorant people chose to believe that the disease is rare so it is contagious or even dangerous, people chose to avoid them and outcasted them.

Imagine how hurting the words can be? Let's not just mention about people with Rare Disorders. I have mummy friends sharing with me how their kids got bullied in school just because their kids are slightly plump. There were kids who went around instigatiing the rest not to befriend the plump kids, otherwise they would unfriend the rest. To me, this is outright bullying and it is definately not healthy to the self esteem. If I were to narrow it down, this voiced down to how the kids were being brought up. The responsibility of educating the kids still fall back very much on the parents, this goes the same for how adults are being educated about Rare Disorder and how do they teach their kids to show more empathy towards people with this condition.

I spoke to the moms of the patients and I gave a pat on their back for their strength and resilence. The journey to care for and raise their kids who are diagnosed with rare disorders is really challenging and physically demanding but the families chose to be strong and continue to walk on together. Through the conversation, I got to know more about their difficulties but I can feel their strong and positive mentality and it was really wonderful to have RDSS formed to give these parents the support they needed.

[Media Invite - Part 2] Ganbanyoku - Hot Stone Therapy

If you have read my post on Ganbanyoku - Part 1 , this is my part 2. After changing into the PJs, we made our way to the room where the elavated platform (stone bed) was.

The stone beds were made of Japan imported volcanic stone and kept heated at 45 degree celcius round the clock, daily.

The heated stones naturally release Far-Infrared (FIR) rays that penetrates to the cellular level. This causes bloood vessels to dilate, thus, improving circulaion and boosting and negative ions to speed up the release of toxins through perspiration. When you lay on the stone, your body's acupressure points will be stimulated which help to alleviate joint, muscular and nerve pain.

This seems to be great for my aching shoulders and back! More benefits on the graphic below.

Definately, I do not need to shed off any pounds but I think I need it to help my body to detox. Reason being, usually I hardly perspire, shortly after 20 mins of lying down on the stone bed, I felt beads of perspiration tickling down my body.

I thought to myself, how great it felt to be perspiring! Underneath the PJs, I felt that it was "soaked". The reply I gave to Greta when she asked me how did I feel about the whole process, I said "我流汗流到很爽" ( I perspired till I felt so shiok) . Nope, I did not smell after that one hour nor my skin was sticky. Instead, my skin felt silky smooth and overall, I felt I am lighter after sweating buckets.

This therapy is non-invasive and it is suitable from 12 years and above. Xav is still underage but I am going to bring my mum who has been experiencing aches and pain all over to give it a try. I thought why not, this may help her since she could not do any form of exercises due to her current condition. No pills, no strenous exercises, let Ganbanyoku Hot Stone Therapy do the job.

For a mummies' meet up, I thought it was a pretty good suggestion to visit together, chat and relax. The three of us, had a post exam mums' date and we had a nice 60 mins restful detox. Psssst, do you also know that Ganbanyoku Hot Stone Therapy helps with anti-aging too? Prolonged regular treatment keeps skin smooth and healthy. It also helps to maintain the proper skin cell turnover cycle.

At a really affordable price of $20 for a 60 minutes session, enjoy the benefits of Ganbanyoku Hot Stone Therapy! I have to say that you have to personally come and experience it for yourself ! Be sure to bring an extra set of undergarment just incase you are soaking in your perspiration after that hour. Just to add on, it is addvisable not to shower immediately after you are done with the therapy, be sure to shower after 2 -3 hours.
