Been a really hectic week since I started work on wed. Took me 20 mins to walk Xav to school from 7am. I took a cab which cost me almost $20!!! Imagine $4.50 already went to the ERP gantries !!! And I arrived at work on the dot at 8 am.
Time passes pretty fast at work. The pace is rather fast I must admit and I seriously feel that the walk in customers are far worse than those which I experienced in the police centre.
In a blink of an eye, 6 pm reaches really fast. Though I'm only the third day at work, things are going on pretty fast, with the learning of different systems and briefing everyday.
How I look forward to knocking off so that I can get to see Xavier as soon as possible..
By the time, I see him, it's about 7 plus and I will bathe him, quickly gobble down my dinner so that I can spend that few minutes with him before he goes to bed. And there goes one day ! I think I hardly had an hour with him !
Am beginning to wonder... How long would I be working... I would rather now change my mind !!! Hahaha.. Cos I feel time spending with him is more important. Prob I shall see if I can stay for a year.. Prob after moving to FV, I might stopped working and might try to generate some income by selling some crafty thingy? Heee...

Shepard's pie
Ever since I started working, guess only on weekends I can get to cook more than just porridge for Xav.
Today, I made shepard's pie
For Xav. A simpler method without having to bake.
Ingredients:
1. Minced lean meat (can be pork, chicken or beef)
2. Chopped onions
3. Peas and diced carrots ( I used mix vege )
4. One medium potato (boiled and mash, mixed with formula milk powder or breast milk)
5. 1/2 teaspoon corn flour (mixed with a little water)
6. One teaspoon grated cheese ( I sliced the cheddar cheese into strips as I do not have grated cheese)
Method:
1. Sauteed onions till fragrant.
2. Add in mix vege & minced meat. Simmer in a little if water till cooked.
3. Thicken slightly by simmering with the corn flour for a few minutes.
4. Place in a small soufflé dish

and spread the mash potato on top.

And top with shredded cheese.
For the mashed potato, I did not mixed with fm powder. I only added the oregano herbal mix into it.
If you like it more moist, can add more water to form the gravy.
Or mixed with a little butter into the mash potato.
Not bad for the first attempt. Shall try to improvise this recipe when i have the time.

Back in school
Xav went back to the school exactly one month later. I expected him to cry though but to my pleasant surprise, he did not cry at all and happily went into the room with Teacher Natalie with his unfinished milk.
I went in with him and he climbed up the flight of stairs himself to his classroom. And yes, he has improved. He reached the top in no time !

And he sat down with the books that drew his attention.

And he joined in Zoe in the kitchen play.

Hope he can keep this up ! I feel more relieve as I'm returning to work on wed.

Cod fish with mango
Got this recipe from wokking mum. Decided to try it out today. It should taste pretty nice with mango but I think I bought the wrong kind of mango.. End up, he Mango is a bit sour instead if sweet. Then again, it's pretty appetizing = )

Xavier had it for his lunch too but omit the mango though .

Had also made steam egg tofu

and ABC soup to go along with the meal.
For dinner, I did not cook for Xavier for the first time. We brought him to Sushi Tei for his dinner.

We could tell that he was very happy and gave that kind of "hey, how come I can eat everything that's on the table". He had a bowl of white rice, Gindara Teriyaki, chawanmushi

as well as agedeshi

to go with.. Yummy ...

Xavier's practising his hand eye coordination by trying to insert the pair of chopsticks back into the wrapper.

& suddenly trying to be funny by pulling his hair and ears as we go along with him.

Before we went for dinner, we came across this Barney kiddy ride.. I sang " I love you, you love me, we are happy family.. With a big great hug and a kiss from me to you......" and little Xavier gave Barney a kiss !!! Sweet isn't it !

Alright, gonna go back to school after a month of absence. Hope he can adjust to it again !

Back to work force
This coming wed, 11 nov 2009, marks the end of being a SAHM. It has been since July '07 till now that I have not been working. On one hand, I'm happy as I am going to have my own income again and also I dun need to stay at home the whole day. But if I am staying by myself, it would be a different story. Hee..
On the other hand means I am going to have lesser time for Xavier as I knock off at 6pm, by the time I reach home, it would be about 7pm, bathe him, play a while an off he goes to sleep! The future weekends are gonna be more precious than ever!
Anyway, be working in the Service Quality Unit with National Environmental Agency. Hopefully, I can put my experiences into good use.
These few days been busy viewing other childcare centres near the vicinity of my work place, hoping to find a good one and place Xavier there, so thatvi can see him as soon as I knock off ! But non gave me the comfortable feeling which I have for his current centre. Maybe I should say that the teachers are as enthusiastic as the teachers from Rainbow Cove and plus the curriculum and environment contributes to the factors for consideration when I am choosing one.
Here are some random pics of Xavier after we went childcare viewing.
Brought him to Citysquare mall, and had this tutu skirt on his lap for fun !! Imagine Xavier wearing a skirt ? Heee ... Mummy, yiyi and por por are so nottie !!

Check it out !! Do I look retro enough ?

We brought him to Sakae for dinner.. He had learnt how to pronounce sushi and lemon for that evening but still not very accurate though.

And guess what the nottie boy did ? He dipped his pair if chopsticks into the saucer containing wasabi mixture and put straight right into his mouth ! As a result ... His mouth will go wide open and his eyes will get bigger as his tongue burns... Lol.. Then, we will start laughing at him. But still, this does not deter him from continuing further.. Good way to train him to eat wasabi heh !

The next day, met up with jo and Edna at Tampines. Check out Edna Minnie !! Kawaii desune ?

And this Xavier was so obsessed with Thomas the train that we had to leave United Toys with a new train for him. This spells trouble for our pockets isn't it ?

Enjoying his steam cake from Yamazaki... Oishii ....

And hee gets so happy after a Jie Jie gave him a kiss...

Having fun with circles ..

Next day was childcare hunting again. Finally, he gets a chance to wear this jumper which I ordered from GAP not long ago... It definately brightens up Xav with the colourful stripes..

This little boy has grown, gaining more independance as days passed...
@ bugis junction playroom

Xav: help me choose a colour please mummy... Pink or

Blue ?

But I think a pair of cool sunglasses will still be the best !

So that I can go along with mummy when she wears her pair !!!!

Xavier @ 19 months
Finally, @ Xavier's 19 months,

we get to hear him call out "daddy" in his sweetest tone. No doubt, definately melts your heart when you hear it.
Whenever, he sees dear dear's pic, he will call out "daddy daddy" and when he calls out when he sees daddy after a long day, it's really the sweetest moment.
Mummy is up next. Xavier's version for mummy is "nammy". Good try though it sounds like nanny. Here.. "nammy" is very precious to me as he does not call out as often as he calls "daddy".
Xavier has also learnt to sign and say no more whenever his show ended,

He finishes his food or drink,

Or when the game or song ended when he was playing with the iPhone.
Recently, he learnt to say "hi" after watching YBCR. His "hi" goes in a very soft pitch, as though he is very shy but vain tone. I couldn't help but laughed.
He goes waving bye and say "dye...." ( his version of bye) funny isn't it.
For numbers, he can recognise and say "8". The other is "3" which he can say out loud after 1, 2 when I count.
Now, Xavier is also more responsive towards Edna's cries. I'm glad that he likes her and will attempt to "sayang" her on her head when he hears her crying.
This is Xavier's attempt to hug Edna, din managed to capture a nice one with my phone but definately he enjoys it.

Off track abit... Hee... Here's the little sweetie pie !! Looks more girl and dainty, with a nice little clip on her hair.

Little princess enjoying in the bumbo seat.

Edna, grow taller faster so that you can fit into the x'mas costume yiyi bought for you !!
Back to Xavier, he will ask to hug people and he likes it. Here's Xavier hugging Yiyi

These few days too, half way eating his meals, he will stretch his arms out to me, indicating that he wants to hug me, and he will pull me close to him and gives me a hug.
In the mornings, when he usually wakes before me, he will climb onto me and give me a morning kiss on my cheek and forehead.
I guess Xavier learns his hugs partly from Xiao P. Whenever, I'm at my mum's place, I will ask him to give it a hug.

Here's Xavier disturbing Xiao P. Xav: Xiao P, are u ready ?

Xav: I'm letting go of you....

Xav: hahahha... The way you fell is so much alike to humpty dumpty !!!

Some other misc pics of Xav... So engross in por por's phone... Xav: Seems more interesting than mummy's iPhone !!! There is sound when I flick it open !

Xav: hello hello, is daddy there ?

Anyway, spotted this uncle going for foot reflexology at the park !!
Better test and feel if it's hard to step on it... Not sure what happens if I were to fall flat on my face ....

Hmmm.. Shall practise my modern calligraphy here !!
He can actually squat and scribble for quite sometime.

Sorry readers, a bit of nudity here... Pardon me... Hahahha
Here's happy Xav having fun during his shower when the cup of water is poured over his head.

Heeee... I'm done !

And this is what we have been doing recently. Training Xavier to sleep within the blanket. He had improved quite a bit but at times, half of his body will still be out of the mattress.

We hope that he can ultimately roll about lesser as it will be of great help to himself when he goes back to the cc as well as he would not roll off the bed when he sleeps on his own the next time.

Viral gastritis
It seems like a never ending battle with the viruses from the month of october till now.
Think the doctors have earned quite a bit from us.
Few days back, for no apparent reason, Xav can wake at 2 am sharp in the middle of the night just to poo!! Plus some other factors that caused him to have frequent wakes had resulted me in having interrupted sleep.
Having not enough rest, I ended up with a flu and worse part, Xav caught my cold virus when he is on the verge of recovering from his cough !
And out of the blue, I got viral gastritis and has been throwing up like mad despite having seen the doc... Think my weigt is going to drop further !!! HELP ....... !!!!!!!!!!
