Happy HomeBodies @ The Artground

[20.19 May 22] I was privileged to be invited to The Artground for the preview of Happy HomeBodies, beautifully created by our homegrown, self-taught artist, Gracie Chai.

Happy HomeBodies aims to inspire families to turn their homes into a creative playspace for the children, with every installation depicting a typical home setting. Being a Stay-home mum to two young kids, Gracie has documented her home life on her Instagram handle @graciechai on how she created slides and forts using mattresses as well as rearranging furnitures around to create obstacle courses, turning her home into a fun space whenever she could. Infact,  the installations were all inspired by her two adorable kids!

Gracie (Left) and me

This attracted the attention of The Artground to take an interest in remodelling those playful moments into a lively arts play space for children. Together with @Lupwaiparentwhisperer, when we arrived and stepped foot into the space, the very first reaction we had was how cute was the installation when we first saw the washing maching with the giant fridge!

Imagine that you can slide down from the  top of the washing machine, jump right into the laundry basket which was actually a trampoline (on the left side of the photo below) !

Explore the refrigerator, within was filled with doodles of jars and food as well as a wall plastered with sensorial materials to stimulate those sense of touch using common household items which could be found in our homes.

sensory bottles filled with beans hanging by the door and right beside on both front and back, was the kitchen working space.

The work station had three coloured gel pads, let the little ones go chop on it, work their muslces of their little fingers. They can press on it and watch the coloured gels push away each other.

Love how a typical routine of a day was represented by colours and graphics.

Recipes of how parents can go about doing certain activities at home were presented in forms of doodles. Go ahead and snap a picture of it as a reference to follow, try them out!

There was a also a bedroom installation that came with an enormous bed coupled with a walk-in wardrobe at the back. The bed was playfully transformed into a huge slide!

Or take a break at the balcony.

The whole installation is sure to stimulate all the senses of the little beings with the multi-sensorial esetups! A playground of a different kind, let the children run free, be curious, allow them to imagin to run and have fun! This space was set up just for the 0-3 years old to explore, with a much friendlier slide for the young toddlers. You can view the clip in this post.

And it was really thoughtful to have a baby care room made available to convenience parents in times of diaper changing. Totally awesome!

Happy HomeBodies will be running from 23rd May - 15 Sept 2019! It's FREE ADMISSION for all! Head on down with your buddies and babies!

Su:m37˚ Secret BalancingToner

Continuing the third post after the review of Su:m37˚ Secret Essence and the tips on using it, I am thrilled to share with you my review on the newly added product- Su:m37˚ Secret BalancingToner, in my daily skincare regime.

Su:m37˚ at Tangs

Assisted by a Senior Beauty Advisor, Barea, who had been most patient with us with regards to the products usage.

You read that the main ingredient in Su:m37˚ is Cytosis, which can improve our skin very effectively and it is at the heart of every Su:m37˚products.

With more than 80 seasonal plants gathered every season, different parts of the plants such as the roots, stems, leaves, flowers, seeds and fruits are selected and then separately fermented in su:m37˚’s Natural Fermentation Research Institute, located in an area without large-scale commercial activities within a 10km radius in Gangwon province, boasting of clean air and water.

At the optimal temperature of 37 degree for fermentation, it allows the ingredients to breakdown further for easy penetration into our skin.

Su:m37˚ Secret Balancing Toner (150ml) is best used after cleasing of the face. It helps to prepare the skin for better absorption for the rest of the skincare regime, deeply hydrates and also at the same time, comforting. With the natural fermentation energy, it helps to balance and strengthen the skin, supplementing the skin with moisture as well as to give a healthy-glowing complexion with its gel-matrix formula.

Tips on using su:m37˚ Secret Essence

You read the the review of  su:m37˚ Secret Essence, now I share the tips on how to use this bottle of liquid gold further! I am totally loving it after hving been on it for 2 weeks and yes, now I make it a point to have at least 2 litres of water daily (I hardly drink this amount because I just hate plain water). But I have clearer and brighter looking skin, my pores are smaller now and I observed that I even my skin tone is more even. You have to see me personally to be convinced! Did I tell you I am a su:m37˚convert now? I shall share more with you in the next two posts!

Basically, after my shower, the first thing I did before stepping out of the shower room, is to put on the hydrating toner. Then, I drip 4-5 drops of su:m37˚ Secret Essence onto my palm and gently "pressed" lightly onto the face for better absorption. I felt the warmth from my palm, it was quite comfortable as I massaged my face in a upward motion, to lift it and complete with the rest of my skincare regimen there after! Best time to apply is within 3-5 seconds after your shower.

CHILL IT!
If you would like a more cooling, relaxing sensation, go put the glass bottle in the fridge and use it whenever you need it, especially comforting in the scorching hot weather in Singapore.

SOAK IT!
You can choose to soak cotton pads or dried compressed mask in it. You can easily find these disposable compressed mask in Muji, Daiso or Minisoe, selling in packs of 25-30. They come in bigger packs too if you need more quantity to last longer.

Soak the compressed masks in an airtight container, fridge to chill it too if you would like it cold!

MIST IT!

Get those glass spray bottles, pour some in and mix with distilled water if you feel that misting is more convenient. su:m37˚does have their mist in a bottle though! Check them out at the counter if you happened to be at any. Su:m37˚ Secret Essence is available at all Su:m37˚ counters in Tangs at Tang Plaza, VivoCity and Isetan Tampines.

[Review] Herbal Hair Treatment with Bee Choo Origin

If you do suffer from hair loss, greying/white hair, oily/ itchy scalp, dandruff issues, chemically damaged hair as well as bacterial infection on your scalp, read on! Alot of people tend to overlook the scalp which infact, is also part of our skin. It is just that the hair being the dead cells are growing out from it through the pores.

What is your scalp condition? I have an oily scalp and occasionally, I experienced itchiness. On top of the oily scalp, I have chemically damaged hair as my mane was subjected to dye and bleach chemicals at least twice a year. After all the exposure to the chemicals, the condition of my hair was really dry. To the extend that I could not even comb my fingers through when my hair is dry, not to mention when the hair is wet after shower, it is usually much worse.

Spot that knot at the end?

Then, I was introduced to try Bee Choo Origin Herbal Scalp Treatment. It was a 10 mins walk from Ang Mo Kio Mrt Station to reach and the outlet was nestled in the neighbourhood. When I first arrived, I noticed among the patrons, I saw people of old and young, not only women but men too!

Infact, I was really surprised, I thought I was early! But as early as 9.30am, the moment I stepped foot into the salon, there were already patrons having their treatment done! Morning will be good should you want to avoid the afternoon crowd.

I was first given a Microscopic Scalp Analysis. Surprisingly, I was told by the consultant that my scalp was not as oily as what I have related to her. My last scalp treatment for oily hair scalp was SIX years ago! But hey, that does not mean a proper treatment is not necessary! I apologised for the pictures below for those of you who probably have Trypophobia but I have to show difference before and after the treatment.

This was one of the screenshot of my scalp from the scalp analysis before the treatment commenced. The shape of the pores were regular in shape and most had 2 - 3 strands of hair growing out from a pore. It seemed that I have been keeping my scalp well maintained! * Giving myself a pat on the back*

Condition of scalp (crown) before treatment
The picture below was actually the lower part of my scalp, more towards the side. Lines can be seen and the scalp on this part was slightly red. This part could be more sensitive as I tend to experience irritation on and off. Overall, the roots of the hair could be seen under the follicles which meant that the follicles were not too congested.

Before treatment

Scalp massage with ginger hair tonic, to promote better circulation. Massage helps with relaxing the scalp, promote better circulation and at the same time stimulate the opening of pores on the scalp which will allow better absorption of nutrients from the herbal paste later on. Following the appllication of 100% pure virgin olive oil onto the ends of the hair to condition the hair, making it smoother.

Looked like as if I was given a wig with the mud-like looking, herbal treatment paste on. To be honest, initially I felt that the paste smelled like a milder version of koyok.

Slathering of herbal treatment paste
The entire head wrapped up and ready for steaming, this process took about 45 mins.

This is the AFTER treatment scan on my scalp. Can you see something orangy on some of the pores? Those were actually impurities drawn out from the pores. The consultant did feedback that mine was not as bad as those she had seen before that the whole scalp was filled with orange pores! The thinner strands were actually baby hair growing out!

The effect on my mane, the herbal paste actually actually darkened the former colour I had and the texture of my hair became softer and smoother! After the first treatment, I could actually 'comb' my hair as I ran my fingers through. Usually, it is always challenging to comb through as my hair was too dry.

The after treatment left a herbal scent lingering, I actually could smell it if the hair by the sides slided to the side of my cheek. However, the scent was not overwhelming because through out the journey home on a cab, the driver did not ask what smell was that! No complaint is good news!

This was taken two weeks later after the second treatment under natural lighting. I loved the new 'colour' given, the orange tint overlayed onto my previous colour, pretty natural I say! The natural copper tint is due to the combination of herbs in the herbal cream.

If you love the products used during the treatment, you can purchase the scalp care products over the counter and good news for those going for short trips. The products come in travel size too and together with a pouch! These are going into my workout bag!

From the left:
Purity Scalp Hair Shampoo - This shampoo helps to clean our scalp clean and debris free! It leaves a refreshing sensation on the scalp after use.

Purity Repair Hair Conditioner – This conditioner is the one that gave my mane the soft and silky feel!

Damaged Hair Rebuilder – For healthy mane, use this! The name speaks for itself, the texture of the cream was thick yet not oily! A little tip, rub on some at the end of your mane before blowing dry! You will get really smooth mane thereafter!

Natural Hair Tonic – I used this after shower and massaged into my scalp before Damaged Hair Rebuilder and blowing it dry. Remember to massage to stimulate the follicals for better blood circulation else no products is going work. Massaging the scalp is essential!

Bee Choo Origin Travel Kit

Why choose Bee Choo Origin?
Firstly, you do not need to burn a whole in your pocket to have a head of beautiful hair, it is really affordable at Bee Choo Origin to get a healthy scalp! Same hair length, I paid $100 plus (after 40%) for the same hair length or probably even shorter than the current length! At Bee Choo Origin, my hair at chin length costs $40.

Secondly, Bee Choo Origin uses 100% natural herbal paste, take a look at the ingredient list below and you will know what good stuff are in it if you do have a little knowledge on Chinese herbs. The ingredients are as follows:

Ginseng - Well known for its anti-oxidant and immune strengthening properties. It also helps in new hair cell regeneration.

Ling Zhi (also known as Reishi Mushroom)- This plant contains triterpenes which may help relieve hypertension as well as reducing the symptoms of allergies. The herbal paste contains Ling Zhi for the purpose of reducing itchiness and risk of infection.

He Shou Wu (also known as Tuber Fleeceflower Root) - This is no stranger to the elder generation, ask them about what is good for healthy black hair, He Shou Wu is the most common answer given. He Shou Wu helps to restore hair pigmentation and slows down grey hair reproduction.

Chuan Xiong (also known as Ligusticum) - If you do read up, our hair infact depends strongly on the follicles and this rhizome has warming properties.  Hence, it is beneficial in promoting better Qi and blood circulation especially under the scalp. With good quality of blood supplied to the folicles, you will be sure of growing healthier hair which is more resistant to breakage, growing out from the strengthened follicles.

Dang Gui (also known as Chinese Angelica Root) - This herb is known as a blood tonic, with its blood boosting properties, be sure that good quality, nutrient-filled blood will reach the hair follicles and regulates the scalp immunity.

Here are some of the details you probably may want to take note should you be going for the herbal scalp treatment:

- Do not wear light coloured or white top if your hair length is longer than mine.
-  You might experience some irritation on the scalp during the treatment. I experienced it just for that short moment. After washing off, it was fine and the consultant explained that it was due to the blood circulation effect from the herbs present in the paste. After a while, the irritation faded off.
